…storytime, books, and ideas

A few new

Here are a few new books that have passed by my desk recently…

Little Owl’s Orange Scarf by Tatyana Feeney                              orange scarf

Little Owl’s mum makes him wear his orange scarf, which is far too orange and itchy. When he makes it disappear, mum knits him a new one that he likes much more. A “warm and witty yarn” about choice and preference. Get out the yarn stash and let kids choose the ones they love best!

Hiding Phil by Eric Barclay

How do you hide an elephant from your parents? This silly little friendship tome will delight in storytime. Play a game of hide and seek afterwards!

Baby Wants Mama by Nancy Loewen

A day in the life of baby and family, perfect pace for baby storytimes.

Planes Fly! by George Ella Lyon

Lots of new vocabulary can be found in this rhyming plane poem. Get those kids up and zooming along with you.

The Watermelon Seed by Greg Pizzoli

Silly fun featuring a crocodile who loves watermelon– until he swallows a seed. What will happen to him? Will it grow in there? Lots of opportunity for preschool discussion in this one.

Dinosaur Kisses by David Ezra Steindino kiss

Little dino is born ready to stomp and chomp. Then she witnesses a kiss, and just has to try it out. She has a bit of trouble perfecting  the kiss (accidentally eating one of  her little dino pals). Finally, she gets it right.  Lively, funny, and great addition to dinosaur storytimes.
